Stopping the Big Giveaway - by John Kerry
Just took a quick break from pixeling to read “Stopping the Big Giveaway” by John Kerry.
It’s so hard to believe that we’re dangling from the ledge of network neutrality, hoping that Big Money’s senators won’t succeed in smashing down the ledge. We’ve enjoyed an open internet for many years, assuming it would always be so. We’ve had access to whatever information and services we’ve needed or wanted. We’ve formed outreach communities of like-minded people worldwide, which wouldn’t have otherwise been possible. We’ve grown our small and home based businesses. And now we may lose these freedoms at the nod of cable and telephone companies.
If only all of our representatives would actually look this matter over carefully, like John Kerry has. It’s frustrating to get a rubber stamped response from Senator Norm Coleman, for instance, on this issue, one that indicates he’d rather poke his head down deeply into the sand. But we need to keep sending a strong, unified message that we want knowledgable and fair representation in this matter, and that it can’t be swept under a rug.
The good judgment and effort of Senators John Kerry and Ron Wyden are much needed and appreciated, and hopefully are the start of a fast-growing trend.

Thanks for posting this. Not only are too many Senators voting the wrong way on this issue, it’s not getting enough air time. Thanks for helping to spread the word.

Sometimes, Chell, I feel we are moving towards that big corporation of the movie “Alien” that owned even the government. And of course, if you get successful enough with your web business that you are getting an incredible number of hits, the webhost ups the rates because it is consuming so much bandwidth.
And Norm Coleman…he was not much of a mayor either, when he ran St. Paul. Not surprised there.
