A Green Head Start
Most of us have felt the crunch of rising gasoline and grocery prices over the past couple of years, and especially this past year. I worry tremendously about where our habits as a society are leading us. How high can the cost of living go without wages, skills and job availability following suit, before our current way of life comes to a grinding halt? What will happen when global warming has completely changed what grows where and which places are habitable? Will we have kicked our nasty oil habit before the wells dry up?
Stripping and polluting resources and trying to conquer and outdo nature is what has set us towards our own potential downfall. Living in tune with the earth is something we should strive for and apply right now, not if or when things get uglier. Whatever back-to-basics and “greener” ways of living we don’t implicitly teach others, we can teach by example.
Ravenlongsword has posted a timely article at the Witches’ Voice that every Pagan should read. Without crying that the sky is falling, he has stressed the importance of learning basic skills that could mean our survival one day.
