The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act is available for your reading pleasure.

Some of what the bill says about the proposed requirement of individuals to acquire health insurance:

The requirement regulates activity that is commercial and economic in nature: economic and financial decisions about how and when health care is paid for, and when health insurance is purchased.

******snip******

The requirement, together with the other provisions of this Act, will add millions of new consumers to the health insurance market, increasing the supply of, and demand for, health care services.

How is it the job of our government to provide business for the health insurance industry? How is it anyone’s right to force another individual to purchase a product? Even with automobile insurance, there is always the choice not to drive. And what is to be our choice when it comes to health insurance? This doesn’t concern an automobile or some other object that is not necessary for our existence. Our very existence will trigger the requirement that we purchase a product. A scam of a product, at that.

if there were no requirement, many individuals would wait to purchase health insurance until they needed care.

For many, the reason would be choosing to eat instead of paying for unnecessary health insurance while they are healthy. We’re still confusing health insurance with actual health care. All health insurance is unnecessary. Sometimes health care is necessary. There is no need for a company standing between patient and doctor.

After 2013, the monthly penalty for not having health insurance is to be 1/12th of a yearly “applicable dollar amount.” This applicable dollar amount will be $750 per person. The phase-in during 2014 and 2015 will be $95 AND $350, respectively. Unless I’ve read it wrong, that’s $62.50 per month, per adult, $31.25 per minor, payed at tax time. How many are in your family?

This plan is too much Big Brother. The government and greedy corporations have already worn our personal privacy threadbare. Our most private data is shared between US companies, the government, and even with workers and companies in other countries. This act would do more of the same, on a grand scale. Maybe this expanded information will be helpful to a runaway government when they decide to impose future mandatory immunizations and procedures on us.

Insurance under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act is one government program that would, on the surface, exclude illegal aliens.

If an individual is not, or is not reasonably expected to be for the entire period for which enrollment is sought, a citizen or national of the United States or an alien lawfully present in the United States, the individual shall not be treated as a qualified individual and may not be covered under a qualified health plan in the individual market that is offered through an Exchange.

However, since Social Security numbers will be used to verify legal status, it will be business as usual. Maybe those legal citizens who have their identities stolen and used for this purpose should be grateful for looking compliant while not having to succumb to this proposed tyranny.
